Day before exam

Today we just reviewed for the exam which is tomorrow and went over what was on it. Mr. Schick did the thing again where he projected the exam on the board and zipped through it. Also everybody wanted him to slow down but me, I was fine I got a glimpse of the questions and told myself this is going to be easy. We got to figure out what the essay was about and it involves comparing a population pyramid to a demographic transition model. That to me is super easy, not sure about everybody else but hopefully they figure it out. Yet a lot of people raised their hand to add to the discussion of the essay and were doing great with their answers so they got it down pat. Hopefully we all do well and not fail the exam.

A few days before the exam

Today in human geo all we did was study for the exam. Some of the things we discussed involved Socrates, A Message to Garcia, site and situation, region and place, time zones, and basically everything we talked about over the time in this class. At first Mr. Schick sped through everything on the review but then he slowed down so people could know about what was on there. Also there is a lot of information on his blog so that is another place to study from instead of everyone's individual blogs and notes. Mr. Schick also told us that one of his classes gave him two cakes for his birthday one was pink and the other was blue and they symbolized the two parts of a population pyramid which is on the exam. Till next time this is your friendly neighborhood Logan signing off.

A Day without Mr. Schick

Mr. Schick wasn't in class today so our assignment was posted on his blog and all it really said was to study for the exam. So let's get this show on the road. I'm going to discuss things that I think are on the exam. Let's start off with population pyramids. A population pyramid is used to analyze growth (or decline) of fertility mortality and migration in cities. It has three basic shapes: the Xmas tree, the box and the cup. The Xmas tree is for a developing nation with slow growth rate, high birth rate and short life expectancy. The box is for a developed nation with slow growth, low infant mortality and long life expectancy. The cup is for a developed nation with negative growth which includes: low birth rate, shrinking population and long life expectancy. We're probably going to have some questions involving Socrates and Ancient Greece, so I recommend reviewing that. There could be a question or few on think global act local so review that as well. Basically re

Exam prep

Today in human geo we went over the answers to the pop quiz we took, and started talking about exams. Mr. Schick told us about the original exam schedule which was taking it after break (I don't like that idea). so they changed it to doing it before break now and during the exam time the proctor will take note on who is done after thirty minutes, after sixty minutes, and after ninety minutes. If basically everybody finishes way before time is up then the proctor will add more questions to it so you could work for the rest of the time. I'm super nervous about these exams I feel like I could possibly get a really bad grade or fail but hopefully I don't.

Another pop quiz

Today in human geo we had another pop quiz that everybody started to freak out on. I knew everything on the first part which involved the video of Hans Rosling. The other part of it I started to mess up. Mr. Schick also showed us pictures of his horses after we went over the pop quiz. He even told us a story on what he did that morning involving his horse, Red. So basically what happened was he had to chase his horse around his entire yard for fifteen minutes to take a blanket off it because he chewed the latch to the gate off and came out. Emmanuel kept on adding his voice to the story. That story was the most interesting part of class and the worst part of class was the pop quiz obviously.

Demographic Transition

Today in human geo we talked about demographic transition and saw a picture of a demographic transition graph. It showed in the beginning death and birth rates were about the same and were very high. At that area population was staying the same. Then death rate decreased and population increased with the adding of health care. Then birth rate also went down and population was slowly decreasing. I got to do my blog in class today so I don't have to do it when I get home so that was good I was about  to do a survey at the beginning of class but I already did the survey in English class along with some other classmates.
